Searching for Position Reports for USS Tiru (SS-416), Dec 69-Jan 70

I am searching for position information for USS Tiru (SS-416) from Dec 1969 through Jan 1970.  Digitized deck logs during this time reference a Special Operations mission, but fall short of capturing location data.  I was wondering if anyone had access to alternative boat position reports or charts.

If the Deck Logs do not contain the information you are looking for, you may wish to request the ship's Command History for this time period. For access to post WWII US Naval Ship Command Histories, please write to, Naval History & Heritage Command, 805 Kidder Breese Street, SE, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC 20374-5060.

During World War II, historical reports of ships and shore commands were maintained. This reporting ended in 1952.  Historical reports of naval commands resumed in 1959, but the consolidated annual command histories did not begin until 1966. And the post-World War II operational reports (historical reports or command histories) are in the custody of the Naval History and Heritage Command. Further information can be found here.

We invite you to continue the conversation with community members on History Hub, but should you have follow up questions for the staff at Archives II, please email us at archives2reference@nara.gov so that we can assist you further.

We hope this assists you with your research!
