Hi donnambf
Not sure if you have seen this site on the Navy Memorial https://navylog.navymemorial.org/lst-523
- You may also want to search on here http://naval-history.net/WW2UScasaaDB-USNBPbyNameH.htm

Good luck with your research

Thank you so very much for all the info!!! Donna
Below is a list of the members of the 300th Engineering Combat Battalion who died on June 19th, 1944. Most are listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Normandy cemetery. Approximately 9 have burial sites at the cemetery. I included members of the 3000th ECB who died at a later date and are buried in the Normandy Cemetery. I do not know if the later deaths are "Died of Wounds" inflicted as a result of the LST hitting a mine or if they died in combat unrelated to the LST 523.

Wow, that is exactly what I need!! Thank you! I'm working on a project with a group called STARS who are writing the stories of fallen WWII veterans for Fold3. I have chosen this ship because my uncle was one who lost his life that day.
You are welcome. There was a website for the 300th ECB but it is no longer operational. The Internet Archive has archived pages from the website. The archived website is not fully functional; some of the links don't work. The Gallery is of particular interest with photos of stateside training and training in England prior to the invasion. You may read more about the 300th ECB at this site:
Major Tucker, who died on 27 June 1944 is not listed among the casualties of LST 523.
Thank you for posting on the History Hub!
This is in response to your inquiry to the National Archives related to the Navy Deck Logs of the USS LST-523 for a list of deceased from June 19, 1944. Your question was partially answered by a community member.
As part of our on-going commitment to preserve our records, the National Archives has entered into partnership with Ancestry.com to digitize some of NARA's holdings. Digitized records include Muster Rolls/Personnel Diaries (crew rosters) of U.S. Naval Ships and Stations for the dates of January 1,1941 thru January 1, 1963. These records are now available in digital form and can be viewed online via http://www.ancestry.com. There may be a fee for this service. Or you may view these records online at one of NARA's facilities for free via ALIC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at http://www.archives.gov/locations/. Additionally, you may check with your local public or university library as these institutions often provide access to Ancestry.com.
We invite you to continue the conversation with community members on History Hub, but should you have follow up questions for the staff at Archives II, please email us at archives2reference@nara.gov so that we can assist you further.
We hope this assists you with your research!
