I am interested in finding additional information on my Grand Father. He was in Belgium at the BOB. He was held as a POW in Linnenberg. Then he was taken to a forced labor camp in Rhinebook. He also mentioned a town named Bonn that he passed.

His records were lost during a fire in 1973, but I am hoping to find anything that can help me piece together his story. I would like to know his Army unit, so I can research his path through Europe. Thank you.
Name: Lloyd Wilson Kennedy
DOB: Nov 21 1921
Birth place: Waukesha Wisconsin
Social security number: 393-16-6145
Service number was 036989483.
Enlistment date: 6/44 to 12/9/45
Officially he was POW from January 1, 1945-March 29, 1945
Based on the newspaper report POW 12/27/44 until he was liberated.

I found a newspaper article that said he was captured on 12/27/44 in Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge. He was held as a POW in Linnenberg. Then he was taken to a forced labor camp in Rhinebook. He also mentioned a town named Bonn that he passed.

  • In a trying to figure out which Army unit my grandfather was in at the Battle of the Bulge.  He was taken as a POW and would also to locate the camp.
His hospital extract of March 28, 1945, for him and mentions the POW camp. He was liberated from the concentration camp on or around March 14, 1945.  From the information I dug up he was held as a POW in Linnenberg.  Then he was taken to a forced labor camp in Rhinebook.  He also mentioned a town named Bonn that he passed.
There is a "Pension File" for him with the Veterans Administration.  His "XC" File number is 11163421.  His time of service as 6/22/1944-12/9/1945.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
