I am trying to identify a San Francisco born person, last name HEALY, that served during early WWII, but didn't survive the war. This is book research, as HEALY was engaged to my marry my mother.

My only clue, other than an engagement ring is my memory. When I about 5, my mother took me to meet Commander Healy, at his large home in San Francisco. I was placed outside with a bow and arrows, with a target, while Cdr. Healy and Mom visited.

Thank you for posting your question to History Hub!

American Battle Monuments Commission includes digitized records for those buried and memorialized at our World War I and World War II overseas military cemeteries, along with those names on the Walls of the Missing at the East Coast Memorial, West Coast Memorial, and Honolulu Memorial. Burial information can also be found for those interred at Corozal American Cemetery and Mexico City National Cemetery.

This register does not include individuals who died overseas in World War I or World War II and were repatriated to the United States for burial. Given the details provided, it would be the best place to start your research.

The search function returns 26 veterans with the last name Healy who died during World War II. Two entered service from California; one, Howard R. Healy, holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

We hope this helps with your research!
