Looking for the service record of Capt. Donald M. Green MD a vet from both WWI and WW2. I have his serial number if that will help as well as his SS#

Capt. Donald Murray Green MD was born Utica, NY 1899 and served both world wars. He was part of the Army Medical Corp and was in Europe Theater.

He spoke four languages one of them being German and was part of the group who helped survivors of the camps. He has a medal from France and I have his SS# as well

as his service serial number to help the search.

  • I'm not entirely convinced he served in World War I, at least not overseas.

When he registered for the draft in August 1917, he was 19 years old and still a student. The war ended in November 1918.

If you have a World War I Victory Medal, does it have a bar reading "FRANCE" on it?

Anyway, here is his World War I draft card.

He registered for the "Old Man's Draft in 1942. As a physician, that was not going to keep him from being drafted, and from Fold3.com, it appears he was drafted on 1 October 1942 and released from Active duty on 16 April 1946.

Here is the front of his World War II "Old Man's Draft" card:
