WWII Air Corp training centers

Progression through pilot training and the bases training different types of aircraft. Writing a book and trying to get my timeline straight. Thank you

  • My grandfather, Col. Raymond F. Nicholson was in the first class of cadets of the Army Air Corp in 1929. He later served in the War Department/Pentagon and possibly in the occupation of Europe. He was a pilot training instructor. I am not well versed on his service, but he did die in a plane crash (on duty) in 1950 outside of Alexandra, VA. I have articles that he wrote for the Chicago Herald while he was a cadet. I also have his flight training card and photos. Please let me know if you are interested in this material. Thank you.

  • I would love the info. I am writing a novel based on my parents story. My dad was also a pilot instructor who deployed to England for the Germany bombing raids near the end of the war.  The focus of the book is on the 14,000+ men who were killed during pilot training in the U.S
