Seeking military exit from Fort Mason Texas in 1800’s and route traveled when they left.

I believe US 2nd Calvary exited Fort Mason prior to civil war and traveled to Indianapolis in mid 1800’s.  Route used (I believe) was through Texas Hill Country, the San Antonio.

any journal/diary information from officers from these travels?

  • This was helpful as it confirms much of the information i have. What i am looking for is specific to this passage “As a result of the secession crisis the regiment was ordered out of Texas in late February 1861 and left the state via Indianola during March and April.”

i am assuming officers get a military journal or log of all Calvary travels and wanted to get access to that information (final exit from Ft Mason to Indianola) prior to Civil War
