Seeking my uncle in the 970th CIC Detachment in Germany 1945-1946 WW2

I have been able to discover only a small number of records for my uncle's service as a  Counter Intelligence Corps Investigator in Europe in World War II. I know he was initially part of the 99th Div CIC Detachment during the War, but at the end of War, the 99th Div was returned to the States while my uncle remained throughout the remainder of 1945 for the first couple of months of 1946 before being able to return himself to the US. My searches for records showing his activity in the 99th have turned up nothing to date, but I'm hoping there might be a chance his name appears somewhere in the post-War records.

As far as my understanding goes, it is likely he would have been transferred from the 99th to the 970th CIC Detachment in 1945. My uncle spoke French and some German. Can you recommend where I might search to find the names of people who served under the umbrella of the 970th CIC, hopefully stating any additional details that would be available about that individual's assignment or place of service in Germany? I was able to follow the movements of the 99th as it made its way through the War, but now I would love to delve into his post-War service and discover where he may have been stationed, and what operations he may have taken part in.

I would consider it a great success just to find his name in a personnel listing, even if there was nothing else to find.

    My grandfather was also a part of the 970th - team (detachment? ) 44 in WWII. His team was in Tegernsee. Do you have a photo of you uncle?

    Hi Jim! Thank you so much for your response and for sharing about your grandfather. I am sorry to tell you that I discovered from the Morning Report records since posting my original question that my uncle did NOT service with the 970th. It would have been amazing if our relatives had served in the same place. It turns out that my uncle served part of his part-War service with the U.S. Group Control Council in Berlin. I don't know if his duty still fell under the Counter Intelligence Corps at that point or if he might have been under G-2 in some other capacity. I still need to study up on that assignment.

    Thanks for the response. Can you tell me  - are the morning report records your reviewed from the 970th, or of the US Control Group (I need to look at those if they are 970th.

    Most importantly - congratulations on finding what you did find! I am keenly aware that details like these are often needle-in-the-haystack finds!

    Thank you so much for that! You're so right about that. I only have the reports for the Control Group I'm sorry to say. I ended up hiring a WW2 researcher working with Bill Beigel to do a search of the morning reports for me. I gave them my uncle's discharge papers and what little else I knew, and they were able to trace his name through transfers for most of the War. I know it's not possible a lot of the time financially to hire someone, but I wanted to let you know how I was able to get this information.
