I am looking for information about my Civil War Veteran ancestor who died in 1931. I would like to see his complete record. Where can I ask for that?

I am looking for information about my Civil War Veteran Ancestor who died in 1931. His records are not at NARA. I am looking for background information that should be in there that would include his wife and where and when she died. I know when and where he died in a military veteran hospital. thanks

 The information you are seeking appears to pertain to his Pension Application File which generally contains genealogical information, as it relates to his wife and family/children. 
 The information you are seeking appears to be the XC Pension Files which are with the National Archives at St. Louis, MO. The email address is stl.archives@nara.gov . 
 Therefore, if the XC Pension Files are not located at NARA in Washington, DC, these files will then be located at the National Archives in St. Louis ( stl.archives@nara.gov )
