Asiaic Pacific Ribbon

In my grandfather's medals & ribbons, I came across an Asiatic Pacific ribbon with 4 stars. I'm confused because he was in ETO-HQ COMZ/ADSEC 4267th QM Truck Sv Co (Red Ball & XYZ). He enlisted in 1935. He mentions in a letter about the "point system" that he had more than the rest of his men (he was T/Sgt) and says he had 3 stars for St. Lo -which I'm assuming Operation Cobra and before. August 1st, he was swapped back to infantry back to SOS-POL and supplied Third Army. I have tried to identify it everywhere until I pulled up a CBI Quartermaster website.  Attached Anyone know? I read the criteria and it just doesn't fit.    He did serve in Alaska 2 times. 1947-1948 & 1953-1955

Thanks for any help.

  • Did he have a brother, cousin etc... who  might have served in the PTO?

Could he have served in the PTO early on- 1942-43 before transferring to the ETO and the 4267th QM Truck Sv Co?

HIs discharge papers if you have them would indicate if he ever was in the PTO in the "Service Outside Continental U.S" section. Also any letters with envelopes might have different units listed.

  • This is all I have. But my grandmother's brother was in the Navy. Maybe it is his?

  • The brother in the Navy sounds like a good candidate.

Your grandfather's awards and ribbons listed are:

Good Conduct Medal with 4 loops, ( later 5 loops, then with a silver loop)

    National Defense Service Medal

    European–African–Middle Eastern  Campaign Medal

    American Defense Medal

    Occupation of Germany Medal

    American Theater Ribbon

A silver campaign star on his EAME ribbon for his 5 campaigns ( Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe)

He also has several Long Service Awards listed.

  • Thank you so much sweet lady. That helps a lot. The typed letters are crowded and G's & C's are hard to figure out. I still haven't heard back from the E-Vets researchers. I submitted my request in Early September but nothing yet. I know they're busy. I've tried to get in touch with the research center at WWII Museum and have sent several emails about getting an appointment to visit but I haven't been successful there either. You all have been a huge help so far! I really appreciate you all!

Oh, and I found out a lot by chance when I was searching COMZ / ADSEC HQ records. It was actually 4267th Sv Co (Heavy)-TC. The ADSEC reports fill in so many blanks. Matching those reports and dates, and matching them to my granddaddy's letters, it was a perfect fit. And now I have found 50+ photos where the truck bumpers show ASCZ 4267. I did find some later photos of other drivers that showed TSFET-BO(?) on their bumper. I feel that might be a British outfit because his letters say "limey" sector.

    Thank you again! Angela
