Remington 1903 Bushmaster

Question

I have a Remington 1903 Bushmaster. Serial Number 3138420. It is dated 6/42. Everything about it says it is a real Bushmaster. Is there a way I can find out if this was with the 158th Infantry Regiment at Panama or in the Pacific?

 In accordance with U.S. Army records disposition schedules, documents relating to individual weapons would not have been treated as permanent records and transferred to the National Archives. Please bear in mind that only about 1%-3% of the textual records created by the Executive Branch agencies of the United States government are appraised to be of permanent legal or historical value and accessioned to the National Archives. The remaining 97%-99% are eventually destroyed by the creating agencies, in accordance with their records disposition schedules.
