Researching Fatal Alaskan Crash on Mt Perosue

My son-in-laws grandfather was S-Sgt Blaine J Vanhille. 

I am very sorry for your loss. I wanted to get this story out there so that possibly, there could be an effort to either recover the wreckage and the remains and honor the fallen in this tragedy. I am so happy that this got to you, As for your question, the Air Force never got to the crash site due to the extreme weather conditions on La Mt Perouse and that the area was prone to avalanches. It was too high for aircraft and too dangerous for search parties on foot. Gradually the aircraft rested atop a glacier and in 3-4 months, it fell into it. There was an effort in the 1990s to recover the remains and the aircraft but that failed when the ice reformed. I have a photocopy of the declassified report of the incident and I'll gladly mail you copies of the research I have to you if you want it. Do you know any other information about S-Sgt Blaine J Vanhille?

Blaine had a very busy Military career starting at Pearl Harbor.

I am not sure; I heard this from my Grandmother, but it was the same team who raised Glacier Girl [P38 Lightning] from the Ice. I'll see if I can confirm it, but that's what I heard.

All three mountains in the area had an avalanche. When I stood there, Mt. La Perouse had really reseeded. I have also reached out to see if I can get a copy of the report.
