Looking to find out if I had toxic exposure in the army when I was stationed at Maison-Forte (MFT): Terminal Stationed in 1961-1962

Question

I have been diagnosed with gastric cancer, I have had chemotherapy and radical surgery. I was stationed at MFT in 1961-1962. I am interested in finding out if I was exposed to toxins during that time. I remember the incinerators burning and climbing to the top to burn the daily crypto tapes. Does anyone have any information? Thanks, JohnJR

 Thank you for posting your request on History Hub. We have been unable to locate records specifically on Maison Forte in the 1960s. We also searched for records from the period dealing with Orleans, such as series among the Records of U.S. Army Operational, Tactical, and Support Organizations (World War II and Thereafter) (Record Group 338) or the Records of United States Army, Europe (Record Group 549), but here too we were unable to locate relevant records. If you can provide us information on your unit while stationed there, we can search for possible operational records, but please be aware that such a search also is unlikely to locate references to toxins. The Veterans Affairs does not inlcude France in its list of overseas storage of toxins (see https://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/locations/tests-storage/outside-vietnam.asp ), but this list focuses on herbicides.
