Seeking records for 868th Engineer Aviation Battallion during WWII

Question

I am looking for information about my father's service during WWII. There are records in the national archive but I'm not sure how to access them. Also, I'm looking for photographs. His name was Augustus Armand. He was stationed at MacDill Airfield in Tampa, Florida beginning in 1941.
