My father served with the 517th and I'm writing a chronology of his military career. I need to GO's to verify some of the medals he was awarded. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1917 - 1985 (Record Group 407) that includes unit records for the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment (including general orders) for WWII. For more information about these non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RR2R) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
Sincerely,
Textual Reference Archives II Branch (RR2RR)

Are you sure they're general orders from the 517th, or are they from the division (11th or 17th?) the Regiment was assigned to, or a higher headquarters?
If they are War Department General Orders, you may find them here:
Fort Moore | Maneuver Center of Excellence Libraries | MCoE HQ Donovan Research Library (army.mil)
HQ, Department of the Army General Orders (from 1946 on), are here:
