Trouble finding WWII Distinguished Flying Cross record for my Great Uncle Saul Goldberg

Thank you so much for tracking down these award cards, Defendress! I am working with the archives in College Park, MD to see if I can find any other textual references to these general orders or to all the missions he flew during the war, but if you have otehr ideas on how to locate that more detailed information let me know. 

You bet...am going to go over a few sections of the archives, and a few other sites to see if I can find a couple things for you. it can sometimes be luck of the draw, so I do not want to promise you anything, but I have a couple ideas, let me see what I can make of them, and if I have any success, I will provide that info to you ASAP....

PS, you are most welcome....but there is no need for any thanks in the least. Never was able to have a chance to learn about my family's military history, so when I help others find theirs, it makes up for my loss in many ways....

For former Air Force (including Army Air Corps) personnel, NARA's National Personnel Records Center will verify the awards to which a veteran is entitled and forward the request with the verification to the appropriate Air Force department for issuance of the medals.  For requesting verification of medals and awards, please use eVetRecs on NARA’s website at Request Military Service Records or complete a GSA Standard Form 180 and send it to NARA's Military Personnel Records, National Personnel Records Center, 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO  63138-1002.  Provide as much information as possible in Section II under "other." 

We also suggest that you call (334) 953-5697 or write to the Air Force Historical Research Agency, 600 Chennault Circle, Building 1405, Maxwell Air Force Base, AL  36112-6424 for access to the general orders announcing your late uncle's awards.
