Black Pioneer Infantry 808, Company E during WWI

I am trying locate more information about my great-grandfather, Levi Hargrove Johnson (4013948), who was a Private with the Black Pioneer Infantry 808, Company E during WWI. John E Wilson was one of the company sergeants. I know he departed Hoboken, NJ on the ship Leviathan on August 31, 1918, I believe bound for France. I would love to find out more about his military record, this division, their mission, where they served, etc.  If there are any pictures of their unit, or training that would be much appreciated.
