We searched the Records of the Office of the Quartermaster General (Record Group 92) and located files that mentioned Bensheim in the General Correspondence Relating to Places, 1936 - 1945 filed under “314.6 (Report of Burials) Germany.” We also searched the General Correspondence Relating to Organizations, 1939 - 1954 and located weekly burial reports for Europe (see 314.6 T/O European Weekly Burial Reports). The cemetery is listed on the report. Weekly Reports No. 1-115 for 1944 have been scanned and are available via the National Archives Catalog by clicking on the link above. They are not arranged by specific burial location.

If you are searching for the burial of a particular serviceman, the information you seek may be contained in his burial case file (later called the Individual Deceased Personnel File or IDPF). Burial case files from 1915-1976 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis, ATTN: RRP, P.O. Box 38757, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. Please contact them regarding access to these records. Their email address is stl.archives@nara.gov.

Please note that for WWII to 1976, the National Archives at St. Louis currently holds the Army Individual Deceased Personnel Files for servicemen with surnames A-L. They have not yet received the records of veterans with surnames M-Z. Just want to add that the temporary American military cemetery at Bensheim was not established until late March of 1945.  

Any burial records for Bensheim have not yet been digitized.

Thanks for the information,I'll try those sites.It just seems strange that he was buried about 200 miles from where the plane was shot down.I have misgivings about this after researching airmen killed by civilians.
