Seeking records of 1339th Engineer Construction Battalion

My wife had a distant relative who served in the 1339th Engineer Construction Battalion during WWII. He served between 1942 and 1946, returning home multiple times, based on a military bonus application I found on Ancestry.com. I would love to add more detail in the family tree on his time in the service but am unable to find any documents or resources detailing that particular battalion. Any help would be appreciated!

Here is an image of the bonus file:

Thank you for posting your question to History Hub!
The Textual Reference Archives II Branch (RR2RR) has custody of the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1917- (Record Group 407) and the Records of U.S. Army Operational, Tactical, and Support Organizations (World War II and Thereafter) (Record Group 338). Military unit files among these records consist mostly of historical reports, after action reports, unit journals, and general orders.  We were able to locate records for the 1339th Engineer Construction Battalion (ENBN-1339) within the series World War II Operations Reports (entry NM-3 427).  Records available for this unit in particular include histories, unit journals, and special orders.
In addition, we were able to locate records for the 1339th Engineer Construction Battalion (Box 3225) in the series Organizational Unit Records (entry UD 494) within the Records of Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, United States Army (World War II) (Record Group 498).  The series consists of files on individual engineer and labor service units. Files include organizational orders, movement orders, unit activity data, troop disposition records, narrative and statistical unit histories, messages, and rosters. The files range from a single page noting unit movement or deactivation to several dozens of pages of unit history and rosters.
We will be happy to make the records and their finding aids available to you or your representative in the Textual Research Room (Room 2000) here at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland.
