Seeking official list of WWII Distinguished Flying Cross recipients

According to newspaper reports my Dad, David E. Harnly, received a Distinguished Flying Cross for his participation in medium bomber combat missions over the coast of France during WWII. I've been trying to find an official record of the award but have not had any luck.  Any suggestions on where to look?

  • Thank you so very much for your kind words CK, they mean more to me than you know..

I was able to find some information on a Donald H Thwaites from Washington, enlisted in Washington, birth year of 1918, year of passing was 2005, was at one point a Captain in the Army Air Force......with the only difference being that the middle initial is an "H" in lieu of an "F" ..would you be able to confirm for me the middle initial at all before I post  the few things I found for him on here at all CK..? The only other "Thwaites" in the AAF was a David F. Thwaites aside from Don H Thwaites,  possibly your friend's family member.

Thank you CK, am hoping this is him, as I believe it may be...
