Seeking records of Inspector General, XX Corps, in RG 338.9.3

Question

I am researching my uncle Cyril B. Spicer, Sr. (1891-1971) whose headstone reads HQ XX Corps. He was an Inspector General per his retirement records in the Army Registers. XX Corps was one of Patton&#8217;s Third Army corps and I have other references (newspaper and family memories) to him working for General Patton. It would seem that any additional research would be in RG 338.9.3 but I&#8217;m wondering if there would be any other records for Inspector Generals in the WW2 era. And if there are any Finding Aids to 338.9.3 or any other records that might apply.

OMPFs and individual medical reports for enlisted men of the U.S. Army who were separated from the service after October 1912 and before 1959 and for officers who were separated from the service after June 1917 and before 1959 are in the custody of NARA's National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis. In many cases where personnel records were destroyed in the 1973 fire , proof of service can be provided from other records such as morning reports, payrolls, and military orders, and a certificate of military service will be issued. Please complete a GSA Standard Form 180 and mail it to NARA's National Personnel Records Center, (Military Personnel Records), 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO&#160; 63138-1002. For more information see Official Military Personnel Files (OMPF), Archival Records Requests . &#160; Next, we searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Records of the XX Corps, 1942-1946 in the Records of U.S. Army Operational, Tactical, and Support Organizations (World War II and Thereafter) (Record Group 338) that may contain some relevant information. The series Historical Files, 1943-1945 in Record Group 338 includes 1 file for the XX Corps , too. We also located 6 series related to the XX Corps in the Records of Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, United States Army (World War II) (Record Group 498) that might be of interest to you. In addition, we located the series World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office (Record Group 407) that includes records of the XX Corps during WWII.
