Seeking unit roster for 9th Armored Division & information about Major Alvin E. Meyer

Question

I have searched through quite a bit of material looking for information on Major Alvin E. Meyer of the US 9th Armored Division during WW2 but I have been unsuccessful in finding anything. I would appreciate any assistance in my search. From the information I was able to find, it seems he was part of the first tank corps to cross at the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen and he sent a flag home that was flying in the town of either Erpel or Remagen. I am aware that I can submit a VetRecs request and I am in the process of doing so.

Dear Samuel Lynch, &#160; Thank you for posting your request on History Hub! &#160; We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Muster Rolls and Rosters, 11/1/1912 - 12/31/1943 and Morning Reports, ca. 1912 - 1946 for Army units that may include rosters and morning reports of the 786th Tank Battalion as well as the various component units of the 9th Armored Division . For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL) at stl.archives@nara.gov . Rosters for units serving in World War II from 1944 - 1946 were destroyed in accordance with Army disposition authorities, although in some cases information from rosters may have been included in published unit histories prior to their destruction. &#160; We also located the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1917 - 1985 (Record Group 407) that includes records of the 786th Tank Battalion as well as the 9th Armored Division during WWII. Hi Samuel There are several mentions in the newspapers dating from 1940 when Major Alvin E. Meyer was a 1st Lt. in the Army Reserve&#160; to an article in Apr 1945 showing his dad pictured with the flag he sent home.&#160; I can send them if you need them. - An article from Apr. 1944 lists him with 786th Tank Battalion at Ft.
