Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the Records of the U.S. Marine Corps (Record Group 127) and located file units pertaining to the 3rd Marine Division and the 3rd Marine Regiment in the series titled Records of Ground Combat Units, Support Units and Other Commands, 1939 - 1950. Information about smaller units such as the 108th Platoon and the 2nd Battalion are often incorporated into the records of the larger units. We also searched Records Relating to United States Marine Corps Operations in World War II, 1939 - 1949 and located documents concerning the 3rd Marine Division on Guam, Bouganville, and Iwo Jima. Information about smaller units such as the 108th Platoon and the 2nd Battalion are often incorporated into the records of the larger units.
For access to and copies of these files, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
