I am trying to obtain a signed copy of a bill by President Carter to establish the Vietnam War Memorial in 1980. How might I go about finding that?
Hi Kelly! The Center for Legislative Archives houses copies of bills and resolutions, enrolled and engrossed bills and other committee records. Laws signed by the President, sometimes referred to as the 'red line' copy, are housed with Record Group 11, General Records of the U.S. Government.
For assistance with RG 11, you can contact the reference branch at Archives 1 via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
