Dear Ms. Price,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives catalog and located the series Register of Survey Contracts, 1861 - 1906 in the Records of the Bureau of Land Management (Record Group 49) that includes Colorado land surveys. For more information about this series, please contact the National Archives at Denver (RM-DV) at email@example.com.
We also located the series Individual Indian Probate Case Files, 1907 - ca. 1978 in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75) that includes Probate File Numbers 64277-19 (continued) - 77421-19 (part), 1919 (1 of 2). Images 603 & 604 contain letters that discuss who dug the ditch and its use. This file unit has been digitized and is available for viewing via the Catalog. For more information, please contact the National Archives at Seattle (RW-SE) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RM-DV and RW-SE. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We suggest reviewing the NARA Accessing Land Entry Records web page.
Finally, we suggest searching the Bureau of Land Management - Land Records General Land Office Records web page, BLM - GLO that allows you to search by factors other than name, such as location or land description.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
