Seeking records of the 729th Transportation Company in 1989

    Ronald Bronson Wayfarer

How can I find out if the 729th Transportation Company Army Reserve Unit out of Fresno, California trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky in February 1989?

          Dear Mr. Bronson,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

Unit records from 1985 to the present (except for those of Desert Shield/Desert Storm) are in the legal custody of the Army.  For the exact location of these files, please contact Joyce Luton, Director, Records Management Directorate, 9301 Chapek Road, Building 1458, Fort Belvoir, VA  22060.  The telephone number is (571) 515-0213.  The email address is joyce.luton2.civ@mail.mil.  If the records are in the process of being transferred to NARA custody, please request the accession or transfer numbers and the box numbers.

Since it was a reserve unit, the unit records you seek may be in the custody of the U.S. Army Reserves History Office. For information and guidance on access to the Army Reserve Historical Research Collection, you may contact the Office of Army Reserve Archivist, 1401 Deshler Street SW, Fort McPherson, GA 30330. The telephone number is (404) 464-8461 and her email address is deborah.fosterking@usar.army.mil.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
