Dear Ms. Butler,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
According to the National Archives website, the Logbooks of US Merchant Vessels generally include crew lists, and they are located in NARA regional facilities based on the port where the log was turned in.
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 4 series of records related to merchant vessels in the 1960s in the Records of the U.S. Coast Guard (Record Group 26). These records have not been digitized. Please contact the National Archives at San Francisco (RW-SB) at firstname.lastname@example.org for access to and information about these records.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RW-SB. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
Thank you, Rachael! I appreciate your help.
