Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

A great place to start with a search like this is the census records. We started with the 1900 census and found Harry Fitch listed along with his parents James and Caroline Fitch and his three siblings (see below). You can find this census available through our partner groups FamilySearch and Ancestry. Family Search does not require a subscription and can be accessed with a free account. Ancestry does require a subscription, but many public libraries offer free access with your library card.

We searched Ancestry a little further and were able to find James H. Fitch listed in earlier censuses going back to 1850, his marriage record to Caroline Baker and many other records. While the federal census records originate from the National Archives there are numerous county and state records that can provide valuable genealogy information on these websites.

We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck on your research!1900 census

not sure what you're looking for, but Familysearch has a birth record (Ohio, County Births, 1841-2003) for Harrison Fitch b 16 Feb 1886 Coshocton, OH to James Fitch and Cal Achbaker. They also have a death record (Ohio Deaths, 1908-1953) for Harry Edward Fitch d 14 Jul 1914 Coshocton, OH (with the 16 Feb 1886 birth date and parents James Fitch and Caroline Ashbaker)

There is a coshoctonco group on groups.io, but it isn't very active.

Caroline Ashbaker Fitch's death certificate (at Familysearch Ohio Deaths, 1908-1953) d 28 Nov 1931 shows her parents as Joseph Ashbaker and Mary Bordenkircher, both of Germany.

There is a book titled History of Coshocton County, Ohio: Its Past and Present, 1740-1881 which is available at the Internet Archive and probably other places online. If you have Coshocton ancestors, the sections on Civil War regiments and Biographical Sketches can be very interesting. There are entries for James Fitch and John M Fitch who do not appear closely related to your Fitches. However, there is an entry for Joseph Aschbaker who is probably Caroline's brother:

                ASCHBAKER JOSEPH, Linton township;

                farmer, postoffice,Plainfield; born June 28, 1853,

in Linton township; son of John and Mary Anne

                (Bordenkircher) Aschbaker, natives of Germany,

came to America about 1839 and located on the

farm now owned by their son Joseph, who was

married September 14, 1875 to Miss Magdalena,

daughter of George and Elizabeth (Lash) Shue,

a native of Alsace, France. They became the

parents of two children—Henry Edward, and

Mary Elizabeth. He also-had two brothers, David

and Jacob, in the late war, in which David

contracted the disease which caused his death.

                Joseph's father died September 22, 1857.

1850 US Census (James H. is 3 months old) living with parents & siblings in Cross Creek Twp, Washington Co PA:

Judging from the birth places of the child listed in the 1870 Census, the family moved to Ohio between 1852-1854.  By 1870 Jane appears as head of household and is probably a widow.

It appears that James Fitch died in 1857 based on an entry on the administration of his estate.
