An Edwin F Crawley sought a divorce from an Annie F Crawley in 1906
An Edwin F Crawley married Margaret Crommelin date 26 Jan 1907 Manhattan, New York, USA Certificate Number 2718
Below a note TO ME from Margaret Crommelin’s grandson.
Edwin married the widow Margaret Crommelin, my great grandmother. My mother, Pat Crommelin, had many wonderful recollections of her step grandfather. Her real grandfather died long before she was born. I'm not certain when Edwin remarried. I can only guess it was about 1907 based on the 1910 US Census. I don't have any family documents and have not checked into historical newspapers or contacted the city of West Orange. He is buried in Rosedale Cemetery in West Orange beside his second wife. I do not know if my mother ever knew his children. Can't imagine she didn't know your grandfather from some family get together--Edwin passed when she was 14 and they were close. In any case I have no recollection of my mother ever mentioning your grandfather. My mother passed five years ago. My records do not show George or Hazel in the family in 1910. Does this mean he was divorced from his first wife?
Dear Ms. Bradica,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The Federal Government does not ordinarily create or maintain birth, death, marriage or divorce records. Such records are made and kept by State and local governments rather than the National Archives. We suggest that you contact the appropriate State archives or historical society to request a search for the death records of Edwin F. Crawley. We also suggest that you search Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers and FamilySearch as well as searching unofficial sites such as Find A Grave for mention of Edwin F. Crawley.
Please review the FamilySearch Research wiki for United States Death Records for more information.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
