Above is the contact information for the Arizona Hud Field office...Have you spoken to them?
Alice, thank you for responding so quickly. I really appreciate it. The article in the GV News, which you attached, is the property that we need answers for. I have not contacted Stephanie Smelnick yet. I did find her name to use as a contact, after business hours last Friday. But, thought that I would try the History Hub also. There are several of us trying to research this however, I am the only one with a background working with HUD and an understanding of their CFR's. I will be making an attempt to contact Ms. Smelnick today or tomorrow. If there is anything that you find from the 1960-70's, please let me know. Once again, thank you.
Dear Ms. Griffin,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Public Works Project Case Files, 1/1/1945-1967, the Urban Renewal Demonstration Grant Case Files, 1954-1972, and the Final Grant Reports, 1951-1981 in the General Records of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (Record Group 207) that may include some information about the property you are researching. These records have not been digitized. For assistance with or access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at email@example.com.
We also located 15 series related to real property disposal in Arizona during the 1960s in various record groups that may contain some relevant information. These records have not been digitized. For further assistance with these records, please contact the reference unit listed in the Catalog descriptions.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2, RM-DV, RW-RS & RW-SB. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Finally, you may wish to contact the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Federal Records Officer for further assistance. The address is Marcus R. Smallwood, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Administration, 451 7th Street SW, Room 6204. Washington, DC 20410. His email address is Marcus.R.Smallwood@hud.gov and telephone number is 202-402-5581.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
