Re: Seeking mother's Alien Registration Card
Frank Girolami Sep 4, 2020 5:54 PM (in response to Rebecca Collier)Thank you. Because of my mother's date, the National Archives directed me to USCIS - suggesting I do a FOIA request. Do you agree? I have the immigration card she received on initial entry to the US in 1953 that shows an A number. Did she keep that number throughout her life? (died 1987) I do not have her last Alien Registration card.

Thank you for posting your follow-up request on History Hub!
We agree that a FOIA request to USCIS is the best course of action. The Alien Registration Number you have for your mother should be valid as A-Numbers are consistent throughout the person’s life and only are changed under extreme circumstances.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
