Seeking 1800 Census for Albemarle County, VA

The 1800 census for Virginia and several other states was destroyed when the British invaded Washington DC in 1814.

Since the Population Schedules for the 1800 Census were lost for all Virginia counties with the exception of Accomac and Louisa, we suggest that you request the Personal Property Tax Records for 1799 from the The Library of Virginia or search the re-created Virginia census schedules at Ancestry.com.  There may be a fee for using Ancestry. Or check at your local library. Many library systems subscribe to these sites and allow free access for their patrons.
