Re: Seeking information about the Black Panther Party of Self-Defence

There is, of course, a large historical literature on the BPP and the Civil Rights Movement. I would start by consulting it. If you are looking for primary sources, you might look at Proquest's History Vault: https://proquest.libguides.com/historyvault
If you're at a university, I will have to check with your librarian to see if you have access.
Good luck!

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 2459 series, file units, and items that mention the Black Panther Party. Some of the records have been digitized in part or whole. For access to the non-digitized records, please email the National Archives location listed under the contact information for each series, file unit, or item.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

1 person found this helpfulIn addition to the resources listed above, the National Archives YouTube Channel also has a couple potentially relevant digitized videos, including this one: "Black Panther" from Record Group 65, Records of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 1896 - 2008 which includes interviews or statements from prominent Black Panther members such as Huey P. Newton, Eldridge Cleaver, Kathleen Cleaver, and Bobby Seale. (Note the footage may include some adult language.)
