How to identify uniform worn by great-grandfather

World War 1, or World War 2. Uniforms were very different between those wars. If you have a photo please submit. Many here are able to help you.

The photograph, to me, appears to be of a young man in a World War I era uniform.  I base that on the appearance of the collar and the breast pocket flaps.  I would guess that it is either an Army or Marine uniform.  It would be helpful, though, if you were to provide information about the individual's country of citizenship and dates of birth and death.
