Dear Mr. Simmons,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 5 series pertaining to the U.S. Coast Guard in San Francisco in the Records of the U.S. Coast Guard (Record Group 26). The records are not yet digitized and available in the Catalog. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at San Bruno (RW-SB) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We suggest that you search the website 1984 - U. S. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Program Established for background information; and the U.S. Coast Guard Historian’s Office website Resources. You may wish to review the book So Others May Live by Martha LaGuardia-Kotite that also provides information about the Coast Guard rescue swimmer training program. The Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco created a similar program called the SARWET by then-Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class William Thrall.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
