Re: Seeking records about my grandfather
joan stachnik Feb 25, 2020 9:28 AM (in response to James Cashion)1 person found this helpfulHi James, have you checked Familysearch.org? It's a free service after registration. There is an AG Haynes listed in the 1940 census, wife Bessie, children Martha and Dorothy, living in Johnson County, TX. The 1930 census has an Alex G Haynes, wife Bessie, also in Johnson County, TX. And there was a Haynes family (with a 12 year old Alexander G Haynes) in the 1910 census, also in Johnson County.
If this is the right person, you might want to check county records for more information. Hope this is of some help. joan

1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Cashion,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Population Schedules for the 1910 Census in the Records of the Bureau of the Census (Record Group 29) that includes the enumeration districts for Texas. Some records are digitized and available in the Catalog but not all. We also located the and the 1930 Census in Record Group 29 but none of the enumeration districts for Texas are digitized. Lastly, we located the 1940 Census in Record Group 29 but there are no images of the recorded census for Johnson County, TX. For access to these records that are not digitized, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We searched Ancestry and located an Alexander G. Haynes in the 1910 census at age 12 living with his parents and 6 siblings; as head of household at age 31 living with his wife & brother-in-law in 1930 census; and a A.H. Haynes in 1940 census at age 42 with wife, Bessie, & 2 daughters. There may be a fee for using Ancestry. Instead, you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via a NARA PC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, some of the images from Ancestry are available for free on Family Search at https://www.familysearch.org/en/.
You may wish to review NARA’s Start Your Genealogy Research; and Texas Vital Records Genealogy websites for additional information and resources.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
