I am looking for records or morning reports from C Btry 4/1 ADA located at Biggs Field, Ft Bliss, TX from 1979-1980. We were a training support Battery & a Chapparall Missile Battery. Any help in obtaining these records would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

          Dear Mr. Bateman,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 1 series, 2 file units & 10 items pertaining to the 1st Air Defense Artillery after 1980. Unit records of the 4th Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery for 1979-1980 may be still in the custody of the Army. For the exact location of these files, please contact Anthony Crawley-Gibson, Army Records Officer, Army Records Management Division, 7701 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22315. The telephone number is 703-428-6464 and email is anthony.d.crawley-gibson.civ@mail.mil. Please request the name of the facility, transfer numbers, and box numbers.

Personnel Strength Zero Balance Reports (or SIDPERS C-27 Reports) replaced the Morning Report in 1974. The two major functions of the C-27 Report are for strength accounting and to correct the duty status of each member of the Army unit on the last day of each month. SIDPERS C-27 Reports for the period in which you are interested are in the custody of NARA’s National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. Please complete a GSA Standard Form 180 and it mail to NARA’s National Personnel Records Center, (Military Personnel Records), 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002.

We suggest that you review information about the 4th Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery at Air Defense Artillery - Lineage and Honors and on page 14 or 40 of Air Defense Artillery.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
