Dear Mr. Gray,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Regimental and Company Books of Civil War Volunteer Union Organizations, 1861-1867 in the Records of the Adjutant General’s Office (Record Group 94) that includes morning reports.
We also located a series titled Indexes to the Carded Records of Soldiers Who Served in Volunteer Organizations During the Civil War also in Record Group 94 that includes a card for Roberts, George - Unit: 12th Cavalry, Company: E - Enlistment Rank: Pvt, Discharge Rank: Pvt. It is the index to the series titled Carded Records Showing Military Service of Soldiers Who Fought in Volunteer Organizations During the American Civil War, 1890-1912 in Record Group 94. Unfortunately, the Illinois records were not microfilmed or digitized.
For access to and/or copies to the morning reports and the Military Service Card for George Roberts/Robberts, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
