The National Archives system has 13 (soon to be 14) presidential libraries. There are libraries for Presidents Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and eventually, Barack Obama.
Records from presidential administrations prior to Herbert Hoover can be found (in an incidental way) at many of the National Archives’ facilities. For example, records of government departments and bureaus such as the Department of State, Department of Justice, and those of the military services can be useful in researching the development and administration of various presidents’ policies.
