Seeking Records of 86th ARCOM for 1968-1975

    Elliot Schneider Pioneer

      Hello NARA,

Looking for records pertaining to the 86th ARCOM as Army Reserve Command. Found something finally but it is only for the late 80s early 1990s. What happened to the records for 1968-1975 within these files. Looking to see if those records for that time frame are temporary or permanent and if so what FRC are they held at. Here is the Authority File I found on your website. Department of Defense. Department of the Army. 86th U.S. Army Reserve Command. (ca. 1968 - ca. 1996)

      Thanks,

      Elliot Schneider

          Dear Mr. Schneider,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 4 series for 86th ARCOM in Record Group 338. We were unable to locate records for 1969-1975. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.

The unit records you seek may be in the custody of the U.S. Army Reserves History Office. For information and guidance on access to the Army Reserve Historical Research Collection, you may contact the Office of Army Reserve Archivist, 1401 Deshler Street SW, Fort McPherson, GA 30330. The telephone number is (404) 464-8461 and her email address is deborah.fosterking@usar.army.mil.

          We hope this is helpful.

              Malisa,

Thank you for you response. I'm familiar with Mrs. Fosterking and she only holds and maintains unit histories and historical supplements. I'm looking for General Orders issued by that HQ. My question is if NARA or College Park do not have the earlier records, dose this mean they are at a FRC or RHA such as Suitland, but so odd that NARA only has most recent but not older records of the organization.

              Thanks,
