I'm trying to decipher the rating of a WWII naval aviator. He served in Torpedo Squadron 20. His rating was ACRT (AA) (T). I'm guessing the AA and T stand for Anti-Aircraft and Torpedo, but the ACRT has me stumped. His military file says "See rating description booklet for ACFTM (ACRT)." ACFTM might be ACETM--the F or E was printed poorly. Any ideas where I might find a complete listing of ratings to look this up?
Dear Mr. Magnell,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
According to the Navy Abbreviations from 1949, ACRT stands for Aviation Chief Radio Technician and ACET stands for Aviation Chief Electronic Technician.
We hope this helpful. Best of luck with your research!
