Seeking Information on tribal objections to Gila River internment camp

I am seeking information about the objections of the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and the Pee-Posh (Maricopa) tribes to the building of the Rivers (Canal and Butte) internment camp during WWII. The objections are mentioned in passing in a variety of sources, but I haven't been able to find anything specific about the form the objections took or what the objections were. I am most interested in any records that directly represent the Native American perspective and would find helpful anything describing the periods before, during, and immediately after the camp was built. The State Library of Arizona sent me to the National Archives, which is how I got to History Hub. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
