1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Abril,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Since battalion and company level records and communications were not retained by the Marine Corps during WWII, records pertaining to the 2nd Armored Amphibian Battalion may be included at the Marine Division and the Amphibious Corps levels. We searched the National Archives Catalog and located series titled Geographic Operations and Naval Gunfire Records, 1942 - 1946; Correspondence of Marine Divisions, 1941 - 1946; and Records of Amphibious Corps, 1940 - 1946 in the Records of the U.S. Marine Corps (Record Group 127) that may include the information you seek.
The staff of the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) will be pleased to make the finding aids to these records available to you or your representative in the Textual Research Room located 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD, near the University of Maryland--College Park campus. Research Room (Room 2000) hours are 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday except legal holidays. The RDT2 consultation room hours are 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except legal holidays. No appointment is necessary. Prior to your visit, please consult the College Park website at https://www.archives.gov/college-park/researcher-info.
For additional information, we suggest reviewing the Official Documents from Saipan, Tinian, and Guam and Iwo Jima in the custody of the Marine Corps History Division Archives Branch.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
