where are records for 1862 land grants

I am looking for what I believe is a land grant in Charlevoix County Mi  in the 1860's. Where would I find this information?

Thank you

The National Archives Building in Washington, DC, houses historical land entry and serial patent files created by the General Land Office (GLO, now the Bureau of Land Management) in Record Group 49. These records document the initial transfer of public land from the U.S. Government to private individuals or institutions. Please see our Land Records page for more information on our holdings: https://www.archives.gov/research/land

Our land patent files are indexed by the BLM's GLO Records database: https://glorecords.blm.gov/default.aspx. The GLO Records database is a good place to start when trying to determine if an ancestor received land from the Federal Government. The database allows you to search by name and state, as well as other information.
To request a search for a land entry case file, you must provide us with specific information about the land entry.

If the land patent was issued prior to 1908, you must provide us with the following information:
    • State in which the land is located
    • Land office
    • Type of land entry (e.g., cash, homestead, etc.)
    • Document file number
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has digitized most of this information for those states that were under its jurisdiction, and the information is accessible through its General Land Office (GLO) Records website: www.glorecords.blm.gov. Please note that the type of land entry (e.g., cash, homestead, etc.) will appear in the “Authority” field in the GLO Records database and the document file number will appear in the “Document Nr.” field.
If you would like to submit a search request or if you have questions regarding land records, please contact us at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We hope this assists you with your research!
