Looking for a Land Patent for Robert Blair Rash of 1882Richland, Keokuk, Iowa, United States.
Thank you for posting your question on History Hub!
We searched the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records database but were unable to locate any patents that match your description. Since he does not show up on that site you will need to contact the National Archives at Kansas City, Missouri to request a search of the records there. You will need to provide a legal land description (township and range) to the archival staff. If you do not have the legal land description, they may be able to assist you if you have a town name.
There are also tract books available relating to the land entry case files. These are arranged by the legal description of the land: by township, range, and section. Tract books are divided into two geographical areas, Eastern States and Western States. For the Eastern States, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has the tract books and patents. This includes the states of: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
For these Eastern State tract books, contact:
Eastern States Office, Bureau of Land Management
Department of the Interior
20 M Street, Suite 950
Washington, DC 20003
Also, after land was initially transferred to private ownership, all subsequent transactions were recorded at the county level and were no longer being tracked by the federal government. We suggest that you review the following web pages.
