We searched the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records database, but did not find any federal land records for a Lewis Graham in the State of Michigan. The federal government would not have records of private land transactions from that time period. After land was transferred to private ownership, all subsequent transactions, including deeds and mortgages, were recorded by the register of deeds and are generally kept at the county courthouse. We suggest that you review the following web pages, and contact the register of deeds for the counties where you believe that he may have owned property.
