I am looking for my ancestor who immigrated to USA (NYC) in 1918 (from Ukraine)

I am looking for my ancestor who immigrated to USA (NYC) in 1918 and was later buried in Manhattan NYC (Olivet Cemetery). His name was Michael Shvets and he was born  in Ukraine (former Russia) in Horodyshche.  He was married to Ms. Eugenie. I cannot find any immigration data about him and/or his wife. Could you help me find me any information on him? Immigration, naturalisation, marriage, kids and any other info you can share? Kind regards,

  • Dear Sylwia, thank you so much again!

Yes he was quite famous but as he immigrated to the USA Russia pretty much cancelled him and erased from the history. I could find only 2 articles about him in Ukraine.

The music is his, yes! He was singing also in the States till his death. He sang bass profundo

Could you please send me some links? For some reason I cannot find any ...

Concerning Eugenie I saw in his death certificate that he put her as his niece (on the second page). She might be his niece? after all... But under spouse is also Eugenie but with a different name (Ruchkowski?). I am trying to find any information in that direction as well.
