Hello! Which is correct? I see here that William Nash born 1801 left Liverpool and arrived in Jan 11, 1842 at the port of New York. In a later message you say that he arrived on January 11, 1843. I believe that 1843 is the correct date. Can you confirm? (My last message had so many typos I am writing you again. I live in France, am 93 years old, and am trying to nail down our family history before nobody is left who remembers our grandparents – my brother has lost his memory and my older sister is dead.) Thanks so much for your messages!
Rechecking the records the ship Scotland arrived in the Port of New York on Jan 11, 1842
No ships arrived in the Port of New York on Jan 11, 1843
Sylvia W posting is correct, William Jr. went back to England that explains his arrival on Jan 9, 1843.
I tried to confirm William Jr. birth on Ancestry
All England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 results for William Nash
I search the years from 1831-1833 the was 15 births for William Nash Father: William Nash but no birth mother by the name Harriet is listed.
I like to add Congratulations for your attention to the facts and your pursuit of them.
Thank you for your research and clarity on the arrival in New York of the Scotland in 1842. Regarding the births of William Nash, Father William Nash his birth mother was not Harriett. She was his father's third wife who must have brought up the children after the deaths of the first two. His first wife was(Ann Cragg, mother of Elisabeth Ann Nash. The second was William's mother, Ann Taylor. When she died he married Harriett (I do not have her last name). All three were born and married in England. This information fortunately was written in a letter from an old aunt in 1960 ; she has some precise dates, but not all, that must have been taken from a family bible.
Can you tell me if among the 15 William Nash there is one whose mother is Ann Taylor, and if so, where in England? Many thanks again for your precious help.
FYI
The maiden name of Harriet (18940) and Mary Ann (1841)’s mother was GILLMAN …
Thank you! Do you also have the date and place of their marriage?
