Paul,
The Pilsudski (note spelling) made many trips into NY Harbor in 1938. Do you really want to go through 17 different voyages? If so, the go to: https://stevemorse.org/ellis/boat.html and enter the ship name and the year 1938. On the other hand, you could search by name. Who are you looking for? Name, date of birth, birthplace, coming to? Coming from? Have you tried the White Form search at: stevemorse.org/.../elliswhite.html
Paul,
Some of the "NY" Ocean liners did indeed dock at Hoboken. That is part of New York Harbor. Those passengers in 3rd class went to Ellis Island for examination. Relatives memories, even those who came over to the U.S. are often faulty. I've gone through hundreds of records from applications for citizenship, and in a number of cases the immigrant put down the wrong port, the wrong ship, and the wrong date including the year. If you want the research community here to help you, what is the name of your f-i-l? Birth place and date..... where settled, who was he going to? Coming along or with someon?
Joel,
Thank you. All your info is incredibly useful.
;Here's what I know> Barbara's father: Herman Max Krieger, 10 March 1922. Kolno, Poland, arrived 1938 on Pilsudsky. He arrived with his brother David. Herman age 15; David age 12.
Grandfather: Moises Krygier (Morris Krieger), born in Miszewice, Poland, March 22, 1884, NY, NY arrival on Orizaba on May 21, 1930. Had travelled to Cuba, but last residence is listed as Mexico City.
Both lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Morris moved to Fl, and in later life so did Herman. Both died there.
Thanks for offering to continue to help. I'm curious. Does Morris' birthdate (1884) affect citizenship request?
Paul
Dawid Krygier and Chaim Mortek Krygier did arrive at Ellis Island on the Pilsudski in 1938. Here's their manifest..... https://heritage.statueofliberty.org/passenger-details/czoxMzoiOTAxMTk3MDkyMjMxMyI7/czo4OiJtYW5pZmVzdCI7 you need to register, it's free. Once on that page scroll down.... look at line 8 for Chaim. Note the manifest is 2 pages so you are on 00352.... you also want to see 00353. Got them using the One-Step form, White Form that I suggested, and the name "sounds like" Krieger.
Wonderful! Thank you, Joel.
You mentioned earlier that you have gone through hundreds of applications for citizenship. Are you a contact for this?
No, not a contact. Just a researcher with an interest in immigration, naturalization, and census matters. Not otherwise associated with HistoryHub but a member of their research community.
