where can I find immigration for my great grandmother

Where can I find immigration resource for my great grandmother? She came through Ellis Island around 1912. I know that my great grandfather came the U.S. before this several times back and forth from Italy. My great uncle was born in Italy and was 9 months old at the time she came over. Not sure if she came by herself or with my great grandfather. Any suggestions on where I can I find this on a free website?

One strategy which is free is to use the Gold Form at: stevemorse.org. You have a choice of entry information. It could lead to a list of names and ships and if one looks promising, the ship name is a link to the manifest at the Ellis Island site (registration there required, but it's free). If you run into trouble, you can if you want always post more specific information... name of great grandmother on entry to Ellis Island, birth date and place.... whether coming alone or with her family and their name(s), where might she be headed?

It's asking ship's name and port of arrival and I do not know this information.

If this is for the Gold Form, the value of the search form is that you **don't** have to enter every parameter. In fact, the less you enter the greater chance of finding someone.

The National Archives has passenger arrival records into the Port of New York for this time period, as described in the National Archives Catalog: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/6256867. Our websites discuss researching these records generally including availability of the microfilm and online resources:

These records have been digitized and are available via some of the major genealogy subscription sites like Family Search and Ancestry. Those sites have pretty powerful search databases (by name). They do require a subscription or at least a login to access from home, though they may be available for free public use at something like a local library. These are the databases you want to look in, if/when you get access to Ancestry or Family Search. Ancestry requires a subscription. Family Search you can use at least partly for free, but you may have to do a login:

Ancestry -- New York, U.S., Arriving Passenger and Crew Lists (including Castle Garden and Ellis Island), 1820-1957

Family Search -- New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1891
